St. Joseph Health System – Humboldt County (SJHS-HC) comprises St. Joseph Hospital in Eureka, Calif. and another hospital in Fortuna, Calif. Founded in 1920, SJHS-HC is part of St. Joseph Health System, an integrated healthcare delivery organization based in Orange, California that provides a broad range of medical services in three states. St. Joseph Hospital is currently growing to meet the future needs of the North Coast community. Blueprint for Excellence is the name of the hospital’s new northeast expansion construction project – a state-of-the-art, three-story building totaling 100,000 square feet that when finished will include an expanded Emergency Department, 40 patient care beds and a surgical suite with eight operating rooms.
