Sunday Denver Post Travel Section/Redwood National Park
This article on the Redwood National Park focuses on the Prairie Creek State Park area in Humboldt County, but Del Norte County is not totally ignored. Yes, the author says the parks are “about a 300 mile, 5 1/2 hour journey from San Francisco” (obviously referring to the southernmost portions of the Redwood National & State Parks), and the map inset does not show the Redwood National & State Parks as also being located in Del Norte County near Crescent City and Klamath, but they do mention that old-growth redwoods are to be found in Del Norte County. Plus they encourage people to drive Howland Hill Road and hike through Stout Grove and mention that The Historic Requa Inn is a good place to stay. The article does a good job of piquing interest in visiting our redwoods and provides information about these amazing trees, some of which is not commonly known.
