Photography Show Reception
Come to the Gallery of Arts & Culture, 175 H Street in Crescent City, for the reception marking the opening of The Photographic Process, a photography show featuring Bryant Anderson, Joe Curren, John Heida, Michele Jones and John Tynes. Mural Dedication
Two ceramic murals by Harley Munger will be dedicated at 11:00am at the north end of Fred Endert Pool. The murals were designed by Rick Bennet and Dorothy Ishoy and were executed with the support of a team of young adults. Financial support was provided by the Humboldt Area Foundation and the Crescent City Rotary.

Auditions for "A Christmas Story"
Auditions for Jean Shepherds: A Chirstmas Story - "You'll shot your eye out kid!". Based upon the motion picture A Christmas Story, parts are available for most ages: boys and girls about age 8 to 15, with many roles for adults. Auditions will be held tonight and tomorrow from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Crescent Elk School. The production will run the first two weekends of November. Stage crew, props people, and more are also needed. Come to auditions if you are intrested in helping in any way. The Del Norte - Curry Community Concert Association is hosting tonight's concert featuring brass and percussion. Their repertoire ranges from classical to Dixieland, swing to Broadway, and Hollywood to patriotic. It begins at 7:30pm and will be held at Crescent Elk Auditorium, 994 G Street in Crescent City. 10th Annual North Coast Redwood Writers Conference
This conference, which runs from Friday at 5:30pm to 4:45pm on Saturday, is part of the Community Education Program, and gives attendees the opportunity to learn from and network with published writers, as well as a publisher and an editor.
Events include a panel on "Turning Points," concurrent workshops, readings, an open mic, and critique sessions for attendees. The readings on Friday are free to the public. Featured readers are storyteller Steven Henegar and poet Carlos Reyes. Saturday's keynote speaker is Stefanie Freele, whose short story collection
"Feeding Strays" is a Book of the Year Award finalist. Other presenters include nonfiction writer Lierre Keith, children's book author Vivian Walsh, freelance editor/writer Holly Starley, and founder/publisher of Lost Horse Press Christine Holbert.
